The Maintenance Technician provides overall maintenance of machinery, tools and facilities.  This includes preventive maintenance activities as well as the installation or removal of equipment.  Strong troubleshooting abilities are necessary along with the knowledge of industrial machinery, mechanics, hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, metal properties and machining processes.

Duties

  • Uses analytical troubleshooting skills to diagnose problems and to make repairs.
  • Dismantles defective machinery and equipment to gain access to problem area or install new or repaired parts.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts, or reproduces parts from various kinds of metal stock using hand tools such as scrapers, files, grinders, engine lathes, drill press, mills, and surface grinders.
  • Realigns and adjusts machine components.
  • Assembles and test-operates machine to verify correction of the malfunction.
  • Solicits feedback from operators and supervisors regarding machine issues.  Works from drawings, specifications, or instruction manuals to gain critical information.
  • Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of facility.
  • Understands and interprets electrical diagrams and relates this knowledge to the repair of machines and facility.
  • May weld parts using arc or gas welding equipment.
  • Demonstrates safety awareness by practicing good safety principles and adhering to all safety rules.

  • Requirements
  • At least three years of experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal machining.
  • Knowledge of machinery and equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work
  • Able to diagnose and analyze mechanical problems
  • Able to read and understand maintenance schedules, machine schematics, and troubleshooting manuals, and to maintain maintenance logs
  • Able to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency of English language in order to ensure effective communication with coworkers and others
  • Able to climb ladders, stoop, bend and otherwise physically able to access all areas of machinery and equipment to perform maintenance
  • Able to provide a set of basic mechanics hand tools to perform job functions.

      Second shift hours are 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, may be required to train on first shift for a period of time
